Len Morrissey is the Director of Global Business Development and Strategy with ASTM International, one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world. Len is responsible for the identification and development of new business opportunities and ventures across ASTM’s full spectrum of products and services. He leads a team that creates and executes innovative, strategic organizational initiatives based on market trends, national/international priorities, emerging technologies, marketplace challenges and innovation.
Since joining ASTM in 1995, Len has served in a number of leadership roles in the Standards Development Division, ultimately directing a team responsible for the standards development activities of a diverse portfolio of over 50 global industry sectors that include petroleum products, construction materials and systems, remediation of environmental hazards, the design and operation of amusement rides and devices, and the safety of children’s products. In 2019, he assumed his current role in the Global Business Development Division.
Prior to joining ASTM International, Len was an account coordinator for Kinetics Concepts, Incorporated in Pennsauken, NJ, ultimately assuming responsibility for the Maui, Hawaii center operations and later serving as the Executive Director of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI).
A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Len holds a bachelor of arts degree in Letters, Arts and Sciences with additional concentrations in Business and History and a masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Villanova University. Len is also a Past President of the International Consumer Product Safety Organization (ICPHSO) and has served as Vice-Chairman of the Standards Development Organization Advisory Committee (SDOAC) under the auspices of the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). Since 2017, Len has served as adjunct faculty at Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA teaching Graduate and Undergraduate courses on Leadership, Decision Making, Global Marketing and Strategic Planning in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS).
Len has been recognized with numerous ASTM Committee and industry awards throughout his years of service, most notably the ASTM International Margaret Dana Award, the AIMS International Antonio Zamperla Award and the World Waterpark Association Kelly Ogle Memorial Safety Award. In addition, he has proudly led teams that have twice been recognized with the prestigious US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Chairman’s Circle of Commendation Award (2011 and 2013).
Len is a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan who shares this passion along with a love of travel, golf and all things outdoors with his wife, Nancy and their two sons.
