Dr. Mohsen Seifi is the Principal Investigator at the ASCET Center of Excellence and Vice President of Global Advanced Manufacturing Programs at ASTM International since May 2022. He first joined the organization in January 2018 as Director of Global Additive Manufacturing Programs, and was a technical consultant at ASTM from September 2016 to January 2018.
In his current role, Dr. Seifi is responsible for the Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE), robotics and autonomous systems programs, and various advanced manufacturing-related initiatives, leading a team of technical experts in the field. He also provides technical leadership to accelerate standardization activities across ASTM’s advanced manufacturing technical committees and spearheads new partnerships and initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Seifi oversees the development of standards-related programs and services within ASTM’s diverse portfolios focused on critical and emerging technologies (CETs). As of January 2025, Dr. Seifi is also responsible for the U.S. Standardization Center of Excellence focused on Critical and Emerging Technologies, sponsored by NIST.
With over 15 years of experience managing and prioritizing research and business programs, Dr. Seifi brings a strong technical and business development background and has led projects funded by government agencies. Prior to joining ASTM, Dr. Seifi successfully managed and prioritized numerous research and business programs, collaborating extensively with government-funded initiatives. His accomplishments in these roles underscore his robust technical acumen and business development skills.
Dr. Seifi holds a master’s and a PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering, with a focus on advanced manufacturing and materials behavior. He holds adjunct faculty appointments at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio and Auburn University in Alabama. He also serves on several advisory boards supporting major global advanced manufacturing programs. As a prolific scholar, Dr. Seifi has co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications, accumulating over 6,000 citations. His extensive experience also encompasses delivering over 100 invited and keynote lectures at various technical meetings, industry events, and government agencies, in addition to chairing numerous conferences and symposia. Recognized for his significant contributions to the field, Dr. Seifi has received a multitude of honors and awards from technical societies.
