ASTM Vice President / Principal Investigator

Dr. Mohsen Seifi serves as the Vice President of Global Advanced Manufacturing and Critical/Emergin Technologies division at ASTM International based in Washington, DC, a role he has held since May 2022. He joined ASTM in September 2016 as Director of Additive Manufacturing Programs and has since demonstrated exceptional leadership and technical expertise. With over 15 years of experience in advanced manufacturing, materials engineering, and business development, he has been at the forefront of innovation in these fields.

In his current role, he oversees critical initiatives in Additive Manufacturing, Robotics & Autonomous Systems, AI, and beyond, directing a diverse team of experts to drive ASTM’s mission in advanced manufacturing. His work involves leading research to standardization efforts across multiple technical committees, forging strategic partnerships, and developing impactful standards-related programs that benefit the global manufacturing community.

More recently, he spearheaded a proposal in response to the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) call to establish the U.S. Standardization Center of Excellence. Consequently, ASTM has been awarded $15 million to establish a center of excellence (ASCET CoE) that supports U.S. engagement in international standardization for critical and emerging technologies (CETs) that are crucial to U.S. competitiveness and national security. He is the principal investigator of this major program.

Before joining ASTM, Dr. Seifi contributed to several high-profile research and commercial projects, including those funded by government agencies such as the U.S. Navy, Air Force, US Army, DARPA, NASA, amongst others, showcasing his blend of technical acumen and business insight. He remains actively engaged in academia as an Adjunct Faculty member at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as Auburn University and serves on advisory boards for multiple organizations worldwide.

A prolific author and speaker, Dr. Seifi has co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications with close to 6500 citations and has delivered over 200 invited and keynote lectures at numerous national and international events. He has also chaired many high-profile events and conferences including ASTM ICAM, earning widespread recognition and several awards for his contributions to the field.
